COURSE OVERVIEW

Training designed to carry into the workplace.

Above-ceiling work in a hospital involves much more than removing a ceiling tile and completing a task. The concealed space can contain electrical distribution, communications, piping, ductwork, sprinkler and fire-alarm components, controls, structural elements, and fire or smoke barriers. This course explains how opening and working in that shared space can affect infection prevention, airflow, utilities, life safety, patient care, and hospital operations.

Through concept-based instruction and realistic hospital scenarios, learners practice recognizing changing conditions, understanding the purpose of ICRA/PCRA and facility authorization, identifying situations that require work to pause or stop, and making an accurate handoff to the appropriate hospital or technical resource. The course also addresses dust control, utilities, electrical conditions, barrier integrity, penetrations, housekeeping, restoration, inspection, and closeout.

WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR

Hospital Facilities and Plant Operations personnel, Safety/EHS professionals, project representatives, supervisors, Infection Prevention participants, maintenance staff, contractors, and others who may perform, authorize, monitor, coordinate, or inspect above-ceiling work in healthcare facilities.
