Healthcare-specific Bloodborne Pathogens training covering exposure recognition, the Exposure Control Plan, controls and PPE, sharps and contamination safety, hepatitis B vaccination, exposure-incident response, and workplace-specific activation requirements.
Healthcare workers can encounter bloodborne pathogen risk during patient care, sharps handling, cleanup, specimen handling, contaminated equipment, and other routine tasks. This course explains how occupational exposure can happen and how an Exposure Control Plan, engineering controls, work-practice controls, personal protective equipment, housekeeping, and safer sharps practices work together to reduce risk.
The course follows the full exposure-prevention and response sequence: recognizing exposure potential, preventing contact with blood and other potentially infectious materials, responding immediately after an exposure, reporting without delay, and understanding how medical evaluation, testing, monitoring, and follow-up fit into the workplace response.
Healthcare personnel and support staff whose work may involve blood, sharps, contaminated materials, or occupational-exposure response. The separate employer-specific note on this page explains the workplace-specific activation responsibilities that remain with the employer.
